BMX Pro Corey Walsh Comes Out As Gay

I’m a huge fan of anything BMX. I always have been. And that goes back a long time. My brother was very into it and to a limited extent, I enjoyed it myself. But I always thought it was such a highly heteronormative atmosphere I never totally embraced it completely. When you’re gay you tend to view the world differently sometimes. Apparently, even things are changing in the world of cycling. But look at how long it took.

Corey is one of the first high-profile male cyclists of any discipline to come out as gay, joining pro road racers Graeme Obree and Justin Laevens and fellow BMXer Matt Beringer as one of the very few LGBT men in the bike world.

Here’s more. There’s a photo of him and the entire coming-out Insta post, and it’s wonderful. It shows how difficult coming out can still be for certain people in the LGBTQ community, especially for gay men. We see gay men all over social media, but not all gay men. Many are still not ready to come out yet. And you would be stunned.

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”

“Best Gay Novel In Years. This story will stay with you and you will feel you know every character and the beauty of their home in the mountains of North Carolina.”
