The Vatican Update: No For Gay Unions but No Negativity Toward Gay People
Sometimes I think the Pope is trying to gaslight us with these statements. They make no sense. But after growing up Catholic, and 12 years of Catholic school, I’ve learned not to take it all too seriously. In other words, I’m not bitter toward the church or its teachings, and most Catholics I know turn a proverbial blind eye to anything the Pope says lately.
VATICAN CITY (CNS) — While homosexual men and women must be respected, any form of blessing a same-sex union is “illicit,” said the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
Here’s the rest. So basically, this means you can be gay and no one can judge you. But you have to spend your entire life alone because they will not support you in having a long-term same-sex relationship or marriage. Well, I feel the same way about the Pope and the Church. I don’t support the Pope but I have no negativity toward the church or its basic teachings. So it looks as if we are even.
It’s also interesting to note that the Pope seems to believe being gay is only about sex and sexuality. Someone should tell them that’s not how it works for everyone.
