The How Biden Changed His Mind On Gay Marriage WTF-ery
Apparently, there are people out there who think/believe they changed Joe Biden’s mind with regard to gay marriage. I don’t know if that’s true or not, and I thought Joe Biden always supported Gay Marriage, but I find this article so old school. It’s old school in the sense that we’re still giving out free passes to people who allegedly evolved on topics like gay marriage when we should be calling them out. I’m not talking about Joe Biden. I’m talking in generalities now. I never had to evolve on gay marriage. I knew it was the right thing to do. And millions of other people, gay and straight, are just like me. And we find these old-time articles are getting tedious now.
Lombardo, his spouse Sonny Ward and their two children, opened their Los Angeles home to Biden. The vice president arrived, Lombardo tells Variety, and instead of going outside to work the crowd, “He sat down and talked to our kids — and to us — as a human. Totally unguarded, totally present for my kids, in a way that moved us enormously.”
Here’s more. Do you see what I mean? How else should Biden have spoken to them? At the time, they WERE human, and Biden was human. All of them were, indeed, human. I don’t see why this small gesture moved them so much. I’m gay. I’ve had many people sit down and talk to me as a human and I never gave that a second thought. I don’t think they did either.
We need to get away from this old school thought pattern, and far away from the dangerous mindset of Will and his Grace. It’s dangerous for younger LGBTQ people because it’s sending the wrong messages.
