Elliot Page Formerly Known as Ellen Page Announces He is Transgender

All of the headlines are ignoring the fact that Oscar-winning actor, Elliot Page, was formerly known as Ellen Page, and I believe it’s important to make that distinction right now. Mainly because this move to come out as transgender will undoubtedly help many, many other closeted transgender people to come out. I think it’s inspirational.

In his own words, this is part of his statement:

“Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place. I will offer whatever support I can and continue to strive for a more loving and equal society,” he wrote.

Here’s more. I want to see how this affects his career in Hollywood. I truly hope, for all of us, that he is embraced as a man and welcomed with open arms…with jobs and work, not empty small talk. I also believe this is just the beginning of many tests that will be coming to Hollywood. And they better buck up and pay attention.

Don’t Be Afraid of Virginia’s Woolf

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
