OMG Real Life Gay Actors Playing Gay Parts in Movies on TV, It’s Scandalous

Well, this is just awful news. As if things aren’t bad enough lately with COVID, this makes it all just worse. I don’t know how straights are going to deal with this. It goes against everything they have ever learned with regard to their highly privileged backgrounds. I know it’s only acting, and I know that straights believe anyone should be allowed to play gayface, but Lifetime actually decided to hire openly gay actors to play gay characters in a new romance movie. I’m stunned. I can’t believe it. This could ruin everything that straights have ever believed about acting and gay characters.

The best part? The movie will star real-life married couple Ben Lewis (Arrow, The Handmaid’s Tale) and Blake Lee (Parks and Recreation). This selection checks all of our boxes. Actually queer? Check. Actually married? Check. Totally adorable? Check. It doesn’t end there. The film will also star GLOW’s Ellen Wong and — drumroll please — Fran freaking Drescher.

You can read it all, here. When I turn this on to watch, and you know I will, I may be overcome with sadness that they didn’t get straight actors like Armie Hammer and Timothee Chalamet to play gay. I’ll be devastated…because it’s only acting. Let’s hope this doesn’t catch on because it might just ruin everything for all the straight writers who believe it’s their duty to write gay content for the world while most gay writers remain invisible. Oh, but enough of that. I’ll get into trouble if I say anything else. (Smile)

Don’t Be Afraid of Virginia’s Woolf

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
