She’s Straight He’s Gay and They Have a Conjugal Relationship
My realtor right now is an openly gay man who was once married to a straight woman, and they have children together. They’re not married anymore, but they are still connected because of the children. And I can’t even tell you how many gay friends I have that have been with women and have kids. I wouldn’t say it’s most gay men, not by any means. But it’s also not uncommon for gay men to be with women in the early stages of their lives.
With that said, this story is a good example of that. She’s straight and he’s gay and he wants to bring her and his kid to Canada so they can live as a family. The most important point here is that by definition conjugal does not mean a sexual relationship alone.
But in a groundbreaking decision on their case late last month, Canada’s federal court ruled that the pair, an unidentified couple known in court documents only as AP and AM, can meet the legal definition of a “conjugal relationship,” a government designation for unmarried couples.
Here’s more. They get into more back story and some of the legal aspects. I just think it’s one more example of how the world is constantly changing.
