Charlie Carver Got Slapped For Being Too Femme

In all honesty, I have seen gay men attack each other over this sort of thing all my life. Some gay men are effeminate and some aren’t. And those gay men who are not effeminate can be vicious to effeminate gay men. It can get very nasty at times. But I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone getting slapped. It’s usually a verbal attack, not a physical. At least from my experience.

One of the nine out gay or bisexual stars of Netflix’s The Boys in the Band, Charlie Carver says that a gay colleague once slapped his face at an Emmy party as part of a lesson to not to appear too gay at entertainment industry events. The exchange was a catalyst for Carver coming out a while later.

You can read all the details, here. He really did just haul off and smack him!

I would have smacked him right back and that’s the last time THAT would have happened.

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
