Trapped In Mexico, Violence, No HIV Meds, and Gay Man Seeking Asylum

Here’s the story of a guy who fled Venezuela for valid reasons, but he got trapped in Mexico waiting to get into the US where AIDS, COVID, and other forms of violence are now putting him at serious risk.

But Fernandez — a gay man who is HIV-positive and received a diagnosis of clinical AIDS shortly after requesting asylum — said the widespread crime and lack of health care on the Mexican side of the border has left him in a nearly yearlong limbo that is unsafe.

This is deadly serious. From the way it sounds he’s not getting the HIV meds, and if he doesn’t get them he will go into full blown AIDS and die. I hope they move fast on this one.

Here’s more.

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
