50 Cent Mocks LGBTQ People; Thanks To COVID Many Gay Bars Are Struggling To Survive; Ryan Field Books

50 Cent Mocks LGBTQ People

I see this kind of homophobia happening all the time on social media.

This is how 50 Cent reacted to Halle Berry playing a trans man.

“You wanted to do what? Why? Oh my God. So if I still think you’re beautiful. I’m gay a** a MF. No. Next idea.”

Here’s the rest. This isn’t even half as bad as what I saw trending all weekend with regard to Fire Island and gay men. And wait until you see how J. K. Rowling is putting the spin on her transphobia.

Thanks To COVID Many Gay Bars Are Struggling To Survive

It’s no surprise that gay bars have been struggling to survive for a while now. There are several valid reasons for this, but most recently COVID became another reason. We had 3 gay bars here in New Hope up until recently. They are all gone now. Not one remains. It’s not just because of COVID.

But COVID seems to have really hurt a few that were already hurting.

Gay bars have been shuttered by public-place closure orders during the coronavirus pandemic. In March, more than half of U.S. states issued statewide closure orders for bars and restaurants, decimating the nightlife industry (in Colorado, Gov. Jared Polis re-closed bars on June 30, after they had been open for only a couple of weeks).

They go into a lot more detail about bars closing, with regard to the changes in society. It’s an interesting social and cultural piece.  Here’s the link.

New Book
Don’t Be Afraid of Virginia’s Woolf

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”

What readers said about “Altered Parts”
“Best Gay Novel In Years. This story will stay with you and you will feel you know every character and the beauty of their home in the mountains of North Carolina.”

Altered Parts

Altered Parts by [Field, Ryan]

While the book is easily readable, it also addresses emotions stereotypes and relationships. I would have preferred it be 3 times as long and tragically most guys don’t find happy endings as depicted.. but in a short book, it provides food for thought, clarity and insight.. far more and better expressed than 99% of gay fiction . I don’t think it could have been done better.
