Gay Bathhouse Club Dallas Opens; "God’s Own Country" Director Recants Amazon Boycott Regarding Censorship and Gay Sex; Ryan Field Books

Gay Bathhouse Club Dallas Opens

All kinds of businesses are beginning to open up again all over the world, and this story is about one of them in Texas.

Apparently, the Governor of Texas is allowing gay bars to open up again after the COVID shutdown, but many of those bars are choosing not to open up just yet. They claim they will remain closed for the safety of their patrons. You can’t blame them.

However, Club Dallas, gay bathhouse in Texas, will be reopening with certain guidelines.

The same report also says that showers and public play areas will remain closed, though private rooms will be available for rent. Club staff will require face masks in some areas, and offer temperature checks at the door.

There’s more, here.  I hope everyone follows the guidelines.

“God’s Own Country” Director Recants Amazon Boycott Regarding Censorship and Gay Sex

I didn’t even know the director of God’s Own Country had called a boycott of Amazon for this. So it’s all news to me. In fact, I’m surprised because I find that the selection of gay movies on Amazon is far superior to any other streaming service out there. You could spend hours just scanning all the gay movies on Amazon.

However, it was NOT Amazon who censored them and the director jumped to conclusions much too soon. Not good!

“After investigation God’s Own Country was not censored by @PrimeVideo (Amazon USA) but by the US distributor @GoldwynFilms who butchered the streaming version without consultation to get more ‘revenue’,” Lee tweeted Wednesday.

There’s more here. I saw God’s Own Country. Meh! It’s just another movie with a straight actor, Josh O’Conner, playing gay face. It is what it is.  You can read more about O’Conner and his privileged heterosexual life, here.

In any event, I’m glad it wasn’t Amazon who censored them. I’m also glad they are recanting the call to boycott Amazon. Imagine how awful it would be if everyone called a boycott on God’s Own Country because  a straight actor is playing gay, which could be viewed as cultural appropriation. Now that wouldn’t be nice at all…I guess. At least not while it’s still considered okay for straight to play gay.

What readers are saying about “Uncertainty”

Amazon

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”

What readers said about Kendle’s Fire.

While the book is easily readable, it also addresses emotions stereotypes and relationships. I would have preferred it be 3 times as long and tragically most guys don’t find happy endings as depicted.. but in a short book, it provides food for thought, clarity and insight.. far more and better expressed than 99% of gay fiction . I don’t think it could have been done better.
