There Shouldn’t Be A Ban On Gay Blood Donors Now
Admittedly, I’m not up on all the facts about gay men donating blood. But I do know there are restrictions that have been around ever since the beginning of the AIDS crisis. All these years later they continue to exist. There have been modifications, but it’s still antiquated.
Up until 2015 gay men were totally banned from donating blood. Then in 2015 they said it was okay for gay men to donate blood as long as they hadn’t had sex with men for a year or more. But there are so many things about this whole thing that don’t make sense.
To suggest that only gay men who have not had sex for as year are “clean” enough to give blood is homophobic.
Here’s the link for more. It goes into a lot more detail, and it’s a very good article. And right now during the coronavirus crisis even the Surgeon General is calling for people to donate blood.
Gay Plus Sized Model’s Racist Posts
There’s a gay plus-sized model named Michael McCauley who apparently made racists posts on social media. I haven’t seen them until now, so I’m only going by this link.
According to this article, the racist posts have started to resurface on Twitter again, and McCauley is about to launch some kind of new ad campaign about inclusiveness. You really can’t make this stuff up anymore. It just happens on its own.
In one of the posts, McCauley blasted members of Black Lives Matter, calling them “a group of extremists.” In another, he bemoaned the activist group for blocking the streets and making him late for a meeting.
You can read it all, here. They also link to a recent interview where McCauley talks about the importance of diversity. And there are comments from readers at the end.
McCauley did apologize…kind of.
