Why We Are Now Self-Quarantined

There is probably nothing I would rather do less in this world than be in self-quarantine, however, Tony and I decided to go into self-quarantine over the weekend for very specific, simple reasons.

The most important reason is that the world has been shut down. This isn’t an exaggeration. The coronavirus isn’t concentrated in one area now. It’s global. And last I heard nothing like this has ever happened before in our lifetimes. Just think about that. They closed the world. I think that’s big. If there ever was a time to take a drastic measure, this is it.

Another reason we decided to self-quarantine is because no one really knows what to expect or where this is all leading. I’m hoping that it’s only a short time and that life will return to normal for everyone. But right now at this moment, no one knows anything for certain yet.

You can only base your decisions on the information given to you. We know about hand washing, we know about staying away from large crowds, we know about touching our faces, and we know about self-quarantines. It’s really just based on logic and common sense. And frankly, even though I’m always suspicious about things like this, I’m not going to be that person who ignored all the warnings and pretended nothing serious was wrong.

So we’re in self-quarantine for the time being. In short: we are staying home.

Someone At Winter Party Tests Positive For Corona

I’m not going to mention names, but last night I saw a Tweet by a well known openly gay performer sitting with a large group of other men, almost naked, pretending as if nothing is wrong. It was very Peter Pan Syndrome. And then I saw photos of jam packed gay bars doing Sunday afternoon tea dances in NY and LA. These bars were mobbed. And I’m wondering WTF is wrong with these people. Are they dumb? Are they just arrogant? Or are they just totally unconcerned about what’s happening to everyone on a global level?

With that said, here’s an article about a guy who tested positive for corona at the White Party in Miami.

“I was informed that one of our Winter Party Festival (WPF) guests has tested positive for COVID-19 this last week. We are grateful to them for alerting us, particularly given that they were not experiencing symptoms during WPF. “

What readers are saying about “Uncertainty”

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”

What readers said about Kendle’s Fire.

While the book is easily readable, it also addresses emotions stereotypes and relationships. I would have preferred it be 3 times as long and tragically most guys don’t find happy endings as depicted.. but in a short book, it provides food for thought, clarity and insight.. far more and better expressed than 99% of gay fiction . I don’t think it could have been done better.
