Grindr Sells For $600 Million
I remember posting about this when Grindr was sold in 2016 to Beijing Kunlun Tech. They purchased it from the original creator, Joel SimKhal.
Apparently, it’s being sold again. There have also been security threat and information sharing issues with apps like this and the US Government’s Committee on Foreign Investment has been getting involved.
Even though no one’s totally sure who’s actually making the purchase, there have been speculations and one is a possible investor named James Lu, a Chinese tech mogul.
You can read it all, here. I like the comments below the article.
What’s the Point of a Straight Friendly Gay Bar?
This is an amusing commentary about how the owners of a straight bar in Raleigh decided to turn it into a straight-friendly gay bar. The former name of the bar was Capitol City Tavern, and the same owners revamped the place and they’re now calling it work.
The author also gets into a little bit about how gay bars have been shuttering in the last decade, and how gay bars have become less gay.
In the bathroom, I overheard a drunk girl rambling about “heteronormative spaces” and declaring herself an “ally.” I practically ran to the bar and ordered a tequila soda with lime.
If you want to read something that will make you wonder WTF and smile at the same time, check out the rest of this, here.
I think it’s a sign of the times. And I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing…yet.
