Judge Wants Jussie Smollett’s E-mails and Data
Here’s a follow up on the Jussie Smollett case. At this point, I just want to read about facts and I don’t want to judge him myself. I’ve seen too much of that happen and I don’t think it’s a wise thing to do.
A judge has signed a search warrant demanding Google hand over emails, private messages and location data belonging to actor and singer Jussie Smollett.
Here’s a link to more. If you’re not familiar with the case, they have all the back story you’ll need. I’m sure we’ll read more about how all this eventually turns out.
RWA Cancels RITA Awards and Damon Suede Resigns
Update: RWA made another announcement yesterday after I published the original part of this post. It’s long and here’s the link.
We know that this is just a start to a longer process of reform for RWA, and that process is going to require new leadership, which is why the Board is announcing some leadership changes, including the departure of RWA President Damon Suede.
If Damon Suede makes a statement I will post it.
The situation with RWA is still ongoing, and the latest news is that RWA decided to cancel the RITA Awards this year. I’ve been following it all on Twitter and the entire situation seems to be escalating by the day.
But in a statement released on Monday, the R.W.A. said that many had “lost faith” in its ability to conduct a fair contest, leading participants to withdraw.
You can read more about it, here. They go into more detail, including that fact that RWA plans to hire a law firm in order to move forward with these issues.
