Madonna Thinks Penis Size Matters, Gay Men Risk Health For Perfect Body, Ryan Field Books

Madonna Thinks Penis Size Matters

Madonna is on tour again, and this week in London she made some interesting comments on penis size. Apparently, she’s not shy about this at all. And she has a right to her opinion.

“What do you call a man with a small penis?” the singer asked the audience. “The answer is, I wouldn’t f**king know. I’ve never been with a guy with a small d**k. You know size matters, don’t pretend that it doesn’t!”

Here’s a link to read more. The show itself seems to be getting good reviews.

Gay Men Risk Health For Perfect Body

These articles have been around for a long time, and I think it’s important to mention that there will always be extreme cases. The difference nowadays, I think, is that so many interactions happen online that when it comes to meeting people in real life it can be intimidating. In some cases it can cause extreme anxiety.

“Guys with stunning bodies get the comments and the attention,” says Jakeb. “I’ve not gone on dates because I’m scared of people seeing me in real life. I would honestly have plastic surgery if I could afford it.”

Here’s the link to more. It talks about steroid use and cosmetic surgery. I have to admit I’m a fan of cosmetic surgery if it’s done properly and it’s not too extreme. I think it’s an interesting article.

“Gender bendy romance classic retelling”

Written by Lambda-Award winning author Ryan Field, A Starr Is Born is a queer retelling of an old rags to riches trope that’s been reinterpreted many times, but this time it’s totally different with gay main characters, a gay love story, and a gay male point of view. It’s partly a light-hearted parody and partly sarcasm. It’s also highly erotic and charged with authentic, emotional gay male romance.

From the day they meet for the first time until the day their lives change forever, Harrison Parker and Morton Starr were destined for greatness—and each other. A Starr is Born follows the paths of handsome, badly-behaving rock star Harrison Parker and sexy gender-bending performer Morton Starr, who is just starting his career.

Morton is so madly in love with his husband, Harrison, he’ll do anything to please him, including overlooking all his self-destructive issues. However, as openly gay Morton gains more fame and success in the mainstream with his popular gay love songs and his unique gender-bending image, and Harrison continues to slide downhill, there comes a point where everything has to change. And when that climax finally happens, Morton isn’t certain about anything in his future or his marriage.

Reality Star Is OUTED On Live TV, Lesbians More Accepted Than Gay Men, Ryan Field Books

Reality Star Is OUTED On Live TV

I really hate to see anyone outed, especially in this kind of public way.

This happened to a woman who’s part of a reality show called Vanderpump Rules. A male cast mate outed her on live TV, and she responded this week.

“I thought it was really gross,” she said. “And I also thought it didn’t make any sense on any level.”

I’m not familiar with the show, but there’s more to read here.  I just don’t think anyone has the right to out any LGBTQ person. That’s too personal. Mind your own business.

Lesbians More Accepted Than Gay Men

This story’s been trending all week and I’ve seen more than a few reactions to it. Most don’t seem to be shocked by it at all.

There was a study done to see whether gay men or gay women are more acceptable to the mainstream straight public. This results are as you would expect.

“We found that gay men are disliked more than lesbian women in every country we tested,” according to the study

Here’s a link to more. They also mention that gay sex is still illegal in about 70 countries.

And straight people think they can tell Pete Buttigieg he’s not a minority. Oh, I’ve seen it more than once.

Reader Review: The Way We Almost Were by Ryan Field, Did Adam Driver Help Cut a Transphobic Skit On SNL? Ryan Field Books

Reader Review: The Way We Almost Were by Ryan Field

The Way We Almost Were by [Field, Ryan]I don’t post reviews often, but when I do it’s usually because there was something different about it. I’ve always believed that reader reviews are sacred and whether they’re good or bad it’s none of my business. And I’m always grateful for every review I get…good or bad. With that said, I don’t always see every single reader review that comes out for my books. In this case, it took me a while to actually read it.

This is only part of the review, but I’ll post the link where you can read the rest.

Whoever wrote the synopsis of this book really did an awful job of telling potential readers (and buyers!) what this book is truly about and it is not a “parody” at all but a great read with very likable main characters… all three of them. While the “romance” angle of the book between Allan and Jacob is well done, its is relationship between Allan and his best friend Mickey that truly made this story so enjoyable!

Admittedly, I did write the synopsis for this one. I wrote it a while ago because this book was originally published with Ravenous Romance, an e-publisher who isn’t in business anymore. When I re-published it with my own small press I kept the synopsis the same. The only thing I changed was the cover.

I still do think of these books with movie tie-ins as parodies, at least from a writer’s POV. I think the sex alone makes them parodies. But I guess that could be subjective and it’s totally up to the reader to decide sometimes.

Here’s the link to read more.

Did Adam Driver Help Cut a Transphobic Skit On SNL?

This is interesting because this kind of thing always seems to happen on Saturday Night Live with regard to anything LGBTQ. This time it’s regarding a skit at the end of the show that may or may not have been transphobic. No one seems totally sure about that now. But the show allegedly ran too long and the skit was, indeed, cut out of the show.

Here’s what Adam Driver said during the opening monologue:

“I’m just trying to drag this out because honestly at the end of the show, there’s a sketch I really don’t like, so I’m hoping this goes long and it’ll get cut,” he said, adding: “I play a woman in it, and I can’t tell if it’s transphobic or just really dated.”

You can check this out, here. There’s a video of Adam Driver doing the monologue, and it sure looks as though he’s dragging it out on purpose. It’s actually a great monologue, too. It’s worth checking out.

Queer Guy Gets Revenge By Having Sex With Bully's Dad, Body Image Issues In the Gay Community, Ryan Field Books

Queer Guy Gets Revenge By Having Sex With Bully’s Dad

Now this is how you do revenge. Unfortunately, it’s not real. It’s part of an act by an unheard of  new performer named Nathan Pearson.

In the routine, he plays the role of ‘David’: someone who comes across an old high school bully in the home of one of his sexual conquests. It turns out he’s just had sex with the father of his old tormentor.

You can read more, and watch the video, here. This routine seems to have sparked a discussion about the way gay guys get bullied and many are leaving comments on You Tube and talking about their own experiences.

One person in the comments of this article pointed out that it’s also bottom shaming. Of course it’s comedy, but it could have been done in a clever way without the bottom shaming. This is why the best comedians are always smart.

Body Image Issues In the Gay Community

Admittedly, I’ve always been body conscious. I don’t eat carbs , I workout and hike/run daily, and I’m conscious about remaining a 32 inch waist. I’m also 6 feet 2 inches tall and that’s where I feel the most comfortable. And my body’s not perfect by any means. I’m just aware of the way I want to look and feel. So I’m not sure that’s an issue, at least not for me. Working out, running, and hiking makes me feel good.

But everyone’s different, and this is obviously an ongoing issue for some gay men.

When I asked if any of my gay male followers had battled body image issues, someone responded: “That’s literally all of us, surely.”

You can read it all, here. I don’t think this sort of thing is exclusive to the gay or bi community. The thing that bothers me is that there are so many misconceptions about diet and nutrition. I wish someone would do a piece about that.

Grindr Shuts Down Eminem For Pandering To Gays

According to this article, hook up app Grindr isn’t going to put up with straight male celebrities like Eminem who pander to gay men.

In short, Eminem did the Dolly Parton Challenge and he used Tinder and Grindr instead. But when he shared the photo on Twitter, Grindr shot back their own Tweet, with shade.

Hilariously, the tweet – which has been liked more than 100,000 times – has been met with joy by queer fans and been widely slammed by Eminem stans, who are not happy at all that he has become the subject of the joke.

For those who don’t know, an Eminem Stan is a fan who’s seriously obsessed with Eminem. And you don’t mess around with Stans. Those people are some serious freaked up fandom.

Here’s the link to more. I thought it was all amusing. You can see the photo there, too.

Colton Haynes to Play Famous “Instagay”

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Colton Haynes trending anywhere, so this is nice to see. It’s also nice to see the openly gay actor get the gay part for a change.

Broad City star and co-creator Ilana Glazer is prepping a new TV project alongside brother (and frequent co-star) Eliot Glazer, and they’ve wisely tapped Colton Haynes to play a gay Instagram star.

You can read it all, here.  They go into more detail about the plot and the characters. I think it sounds interesting.

His Gay Sex Buddy Died and He Didn't Know, So-Called Pro-LGBT Priest Is Against Abortion, Ryan Field Books

His Gay Sex Buddy Died and He Didn’t Know

This is a very sad story about a guy who lost his sex buddy around Christmastime, and he didn’t even know it right away. At first, he thought he was just being ignored. It’s also interesting because it gets into the relationships people have with sex buddies. There’s a strong dynamic that does get emotional, too. I’ve written about this in novels at times.

It’s not just about sex, which is something else I try to point out in novels sometimes.

Flashbacks ran through my mind like a sizzle reel of the best moments we spent together. We were naked. More than that, we were vulnerable. We shared human, intimate, passionate, connected moments together.

Here’s a link. It’s short but poignant.

So-Called Pro-LGBT Priest Is Against Abortion

There’s a misguided Catholic priest named James Martin who has become vocal about his support for LGBT people, to the point where he compares us to abortion. And that bothers me. Don’t put me into the same category as abortion, and don’t compare my gay marriage to abortion either. I have seen this happen all my life and I’m sick and tired of it.

Being gay has nothing at all to do with abortion. The two topics are not even related. In fact, religious organizations ARE STILL discriminating against gay couples who want to adopt children and start families. These gay couples don’t want abortions; they want adoptions.

The priest revealed in an article earlier this month that he is opposed to abortion in an article for America MagazineBizarrely, he argues against abortion by invoking the violence and mental health issues often faced by LGBT+ people.

This also has nothing to do with whether you are pro-choice or pro-life, and I do understand how passionate people are about this. But that isn’t the topic. This is about not comparing LGBTQ people with abortions. Plain and simple.

Here’s more.

Being Black and Gay On TV, Gay Civil Rights Leader Bayard Rustin May Finally Be Pardoned, Ryan Field Books

Being Black and Gay On TV

This story is about Netflix’s TV series, Sex Education, where there’s an openly gay man who’s black. I haven’t seen the show yet but it sounds interesting and I probably will watch.

Anyone who watched the first season of the Netflix dramedy Sex Education knows the trouble Eric Effiong has seen. He was bullied mercilessly by Adam, the sexy bad boy with a big … daddy issue. He was gay bashed by homophobes…

Here’s a story about gay history. It’s about Bayard Rustin, a civil rights leader who was arrested for having sex with a man in a car. He was charged and sentenced to 2 months in jail. This happened almost 70 years ago, and it’s still happening today in some places.

After the arrest, Rustin’s life was ruined. Among many things, he couldn’t get jobs and he was labeled a “pervert” by Sen. Strom Thurmond. Because that’s what these straight people did…and still do.

And now, all these years later, CA state Senator Scott Wiener and Assemblywoman Shirley Weber would like to rectify this atrocity by asking Governor Newsom for a posthumous pardon. Rustin has been dead since 1987.

“Mr. Rustin’s conviction and registered sex offender status haunted him for the rest of his life, and it continues to tarnish his name, despite his death thirty-three years ago,” it reads. “Indeed, California’s treatment of Mr. Rustin tarnishes our entire state.”

You can read it in full, here. They also go into more detail about Rustin’s important role in the civil rights movement.

  Reader Reviews for “Cage James”

“An amusing short story. As with any Ryan Field story I liked it a lot. I liked the character of Cage.”

“Well written and clever!”
