Ryan Murphy’s “The Politician” and Gay Content

We’ve been binge watching Ryan Murphy’s new Netflix series, The Politician, all week and I thought I’d post about it. I haven’t seen it getting much attention anywhere.

First, it’s typical Ryan Murphy content. You know exactly what you’re going to get the moment you start watching. In fact, if you didn’t know the title was The Politician you’d swear you were watching another season of Glee. And I don’t mean that in a snarky way. We’re enjoying it, it’s great escapism for a couple of hours, and it has positive LGBTQ content. There’s also music, and some of it is really good. They even play classic Shirley Bassey.

Second, I love all the characters and the actors who play them, however, it’s really Jessica Lange who carries the entire show. All she has to do is step into a scene, and she’s in charge.

Third, there’s another actor named Benjamin Barrett who’s probably one of the sexiest guys on TV right now. Just take my word for it. Pure male sex and total stud. He’s plays a stud part, too.

In short, it’s a very likable show, I don’t think you can go wrong with it, and sometimes that’s just about as good as it gets.

Ellen DeGeneres Is Friends With George Bush Get Over It

I think one of the things that really bothers me most lately is when I come across a person (or group) who can’t separate politics from humanity. In other words, those highly opinionated political people who cannot respect someone else’s political opinions and just enjoy themselves. I have never once in my life judged anyone based on their politics, and I hope I never do. I have friends who are conservative and friends who are liberal and I respect all of their opinions.

With that said, Ellen recently sat next to George Bush at a football game and the Internets went berserk, which led Ellen to make this public statement.

“Here’s the thing. I’m friends with George Bush,” she continues. “In fact, I’m friends with a lot of people who don’t share the same beliefs that I have. We’re all different. And I think we’ve forgotten that that’s OK that we’re all different.

As you can imagine, though, not everyone was pleased. And I think that’s a shame for them. People are getting tired of all the political vitriol.
