Jussie Smollett Is Outraged
For those who thought you’d heard the last from Jussie Smollett, think again. Last week there was a story going around about a kid in a private school who faked a hate crime. I was one of the people who fell for this girl’s story, and I was 100% standing behind her. Of course conservative people on social media couldn’t wait to take pleasure in telling me the story was a hoax, and I wound up feeling like a trusting idiot once again. In short, the girl goes to a private school where Mike Pence’s wife works, and the girl claimed that she had been forced to the ground by 3 boys who proceeded to cut off her hair. Sadly, the girl herself admitted that she’d lied and that she’d made up the entire story.
And now Jussie Smollett is upset because people are comparing his story to this girl’s story. Here’s how Smollett responded to someone on social media.
“With all due respect brother, y’all can clown me all you want but my story has actually never changed and I haven’t lied about a thing,” Smollett quipped in his response.
You can read it all in full, here. There’s more back story on the Smollett case. I was standing behind Smollett 100%, too. And I don’t care what anyone else thinks. Whether or not these particular hate crimes happened, doesn’t matter to me. I know that hate crimes do happen all the time and that’s a fact that can’t be disputed.
WWE’s First Openly Lesbian Star Sonya Deville
Sonya Deville is openly gay…proudly…which is also a first for reality TV show, Total Divas. For those who don’t know, Total Divas is a reality show that’s focused on the lives and careers of WWE’s wrestlers.
“I don’t think there’s ever been anyone like me on there. Obviously, [I’m] the first gay member of the cast which is cool because hopefully, I can kind of be a voice and a presence for the community that hasn’t been there before.”
I think anything like this is wonderful, and groundbreaking, because it’s part of the mainstream. It also get’s into Deville’s journey of coming out and learning more about herself as a gay woman.
