When You Write A Review and the Person Censors You and Takes It Down
First, this has nothing to do with books, publishing, authors, or even readers. I’m talking about reviews for services rendered that have nothing at all to do with publishing. It’s something that happened to me and I’m curious about whether or not it happens to other people online.
Over the years, as a published author, I have been fortunate enough to have my books reviewed thousands of times. And I’ve always been grateful to the people who took the time to do that. And I’m not just grateful for the good reviews, I’m grateful for the bad reviews as well. These people read the book and they took the time to leave a review. That means something to me.
With that said, I recently left a review regarding an experience I had working with someone and I wanted to let other people out there know about this experience. It wasn’t a good experience, and I’m not the only person who left a negative review for this person. I used my own name and identity. I wasn’t trying to hide anything. It was my honest opinion.
The next morning the person I reviewed e-mailed me with one of the nastiest e-mails I have ever received, and then this person actually took down my negative review plus the other negative reviews other people had written about them. And there’s nothing anyone can do. This particular web site allows reviews, but they obviously only allow good reviews. So the only real satisfaction I got out of all this was in knowing that this person I reviewed knows exactly how I feel now.
And I was just wondering if anyone else ever had this happen. I think because I’m so used to most web sites honoring reviews and not allowing people to take their own negative reviews down I find it unusual that a web site would censor people. Of course I’ll move on and this really isn’t even a rant. But I did find it shabby that a web site would allow people to remove negative reviews of themselves simply because they don’t like them.
Love Simon Spin Off Series
I love this idea. I was hoping someone would do this. In fact, I think the film, Love Simon, is probably one of my all time favorites with LGBTQ content.
The TV show, also titled Love, Simon, will start production later this month and will premiere at a later date on Disney+, the streaming service that will launch in November.
There’s a lot more, here.
