Did Lucille Ball Use Poppers?; New Gay TV Show ONLY Casts Gay Actors; Family Of Famous Drag Kid Respond To Abuse Accusations; Pretty Man by Ryan Field

Did Lucille Ball Use Poppers?

I’m more interested in the documentary about Lucille Ball than I am in this article about poppers…amyl nitrate. However, the popper thing is interesting. I’ve only known poppers to be good for one thing. I never knew they were actually used for medical reasons, too.

The episode posits that Ball suffered from cardiovascular disease, and used the notorious sexual enhancement amyl nitrate to numb her chest pains. That would appear to fit well with the circumstances of her death as well.

Here’s a link to the article.

New Gay TV Show ONLY Casts Gay Actors

I found this article interesting for a couple of reasons. One, there’s a new gay TV series, Interested In, coming out that’s supposed to be similar to Queer as Folk and Looking. I also like the fact that it’s set in Philadelphia. But there’s something else I like that I don’t see happen very often. They are only casting gay actors to play gay roles. In other words, from what I’m gathering, no brave straight actors will be talking about what it’s like to kiss a man, or how their girlfriends feel when they see them kissing a man.

“It’s important that queer people tell queer stories,” he explains, “and that we give these opportunities to actors that have the same lived experiences since we’re often cut out of straight roles.”

Now that’s a novelty.

Here’s more. It’s being promoted as a,”commentary on gay dating and culture.”

Family Of Famous Drag Kid Respond To Abuse Accusations

11 year old Desmond Napoles is a well-known drag performer whose family has been accused of child abuse. I’ve seen this kind of thing before from the most conservative and judgmental. I could rant about that for pages, but I won’t do that now. The most important part of this story is that the family has been totally cleared of child abuse, they’ve done nothing wrong, and they have the papers to prove this.

‘In addition, we were investigated by the NYPD, the Child Advocacy Center, the Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Department of Labor, and the District Attorney’s office. No abuse or maltreatment was found, no regulations for child performers were broken, no illegal activity has occurred.’

Here’s the entire story.

Reader Reviews: “Ryan Field has another winner with Pretty Man, a gay take on the Julia Roberts movie.”

Pretty Man by [Field, Ryan ]

Roland Marcus—rich, handsome and pushing 40—is still not over the fact that his 20-year relationship has ended, and desperately needs someone to distract him while he attends a bevvy of charity events in New York. With all eyes upon him, including his ex’s (who left him for a younger man), Roland accidentally bumps into a hot young guy in a used book store…a strapping male hustler whom he decides to hire for one week to accompany him to his social events. He offers him $5,000, with no strings attached, to just stand by his side and look pretty.

Josh Holden, a young guy who is helping to support his son and saving money to buy a business with his best friend and ex-wife, is only too happy to escort Roland anywhere he wants to go that week. And he’s not doing it just for the money…

Roland learns in less than a week’s time that his future can still hold both earth-shattering sex and a love of real substance.
