The Anti-Gay Wedding Cake Saga Continues With a New Bakery
Here’s a story about yet another anti-gay baker who is refusing to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple, based on her self-righteous religious beliefs. And this time the anti-gay baker put her feelings in writing.
“I really enjoyed our time together and I truly wish you the best but after realizing that your union will be of the same sex, I cannot with my spiritual conviction and beliefs, do your cake! I want you to know in saying that, I do love you in The Lord! Had I known before you left, I would have said something then!”
Apparently, this isn’t the first time the business has refused to bake wedding cakes for gay couples.
Here’s the rest. I’ll never understand the need to discriminate against anyone. If I’m in business, I’m going to serve everyone…the public. Because that’s what you do when you’re in business. You put your personal opinions aside, you act like a grown up professional, and you do your job. No one is stopping this woman from worshiping or practicing any religion.
Tunisian Government Wants To Shut Down LGBT Rights Group
On the global front, here’s what’s happening in Tunisia.
The Tunisian government is trying to shut down an LGBT rights group called Shams. The Human Rights Watch wants them to stop trying to shut down Shams.
“If organizations that defend human rights and sexual minorities are shut down, Tunisia’s image as an island of freedom and democracy in the region will take a big hit,” said Amna Guellali, Tunisia director at Human Rights Watch.”
Here’s a link for this one. The article also mentions that Tunisia has been one of the few places where LGBT organizations have been able to operate openly.
Bigoted Christian Goes Undercover As Gay Man
There’s a film out that’s poorly titled with the overused cliche, At the End of the Day, where an anti-gay professor goes undercover as a gay man.
The dean pressures Hopper to go undercover as a gay man and infiltrate the group to stop it from raising the funds it needs to build a shelter.
But there’s a twist. I haven’t seen the movie so I can’t comment.
You can read more about it, here. There’s a clip as well.
