Hillsong Church Thinks ‘Homosexuality’ Is a ‘Lifestyle’
The Chris Pratt story made headlines all last week…until the Jussie Smollett story broke and overshadowed Pratt. 2019 has been interesting, so far.
In any event, the point of this article is how they view ‘homosexuality’ as a ‘lifestyle’ over at Hillsong.
Hillsong Pastor, Brian Houston, actually wrote a blog post about ‘a gay lifestyle’ in 2015.
“Hillsong Church welcomes ALL people but does not affirm all lifestyles. Put clearly, we do not affirm a gay lifestyle and because of this we do not knowingly have actively gay people in positions of leadership, either paid or unpaid.”
You can read the rest, here. I think one thing to remember nowadays is that whenever you hear someone use the word ‘homosexuality’ in a sentence, unless it’s something highly clinical, you can be almost certain you’re dealing with someone who’s homophobic.
Now, in all fairness to Chris Pratt, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention there is a twist to his story you probably won’t read about in most places. Pratt actually attends a church in LA called Zoe Church. However, Zoe church is a branch of Hillsong.
The Word ‘Homosexual’ As a Pejorative
Speaking of the word homosexual. Here’s an article that’s focused on the word ‘homosexual’ that I found in the NYT.
But that five-syllable word has never been more loaded, more deliberately used and, to the ears of many gays and lesbians, more pejorative.
You can read it all at this link. It’s an excellent piece that goes into a lot more detail about this word and how it has been used for ages in many different ways.
I’ve never liked the word ‘homosexual,’ even before people started calling attention to it, especially when they say, ‘practicing homosexual.’
