Gay History: Fred Karger Is the First Openly Gay Man to Run For President, Not Pete Buttigieg
It was recently announced that Mayor Pete Buttigieg is going to run for President, and I think that’s fantastic. As a lifelong registered Democrat, he has all my support, and I’m thrilled about it. I hope to be linking to more wonderful news about Buttigieg.
But some of the headlines this week about Buttigieg in the mainstream media have been misleading.
Fact: Fred Karger is actually the first openly gay man to run for President. From Wiki…
Fred S. Karger (born January 31, 1950) is an American political consultant, gay rights activist and watchdog, former actor, and politician. His unsuccessful candidacy for the Republican nomination for the 2012 US Presidential election made him the first openly gay presidential candidate in a major political party in American history.
Back in 2012, I posted extensively on Karger, and I followed him throughout his humble campaign. And I’m not a political person. I did this because I never thought I would see an openly gay man even think about running for President. Here’s a link to all of my posts about Karger running for President.
In addition to running for President, Karger also fought extensively for same sex marriage. And he’s still fighting for gay rights.
I posted this about Karger back in February, 2012…
The two main reasons I keep posting about Fred Karger is because he’s not getting an ounce of mention from the mainstream media and he’s making history as the first openly gay Republican making a bid for the Presidency.
Karger’s candidacy and place on multiple state ballots is historic. He is the first openly gay candidate from a major party to run for President. In Karger’s first contest – last month in New Hampshire – he beat Congresswoman Michele Bachmann by 135 votes.
The links to what I covered here on this blog about Fred Karger are very extensive. And I did it because no one else was doing it, and because I don’t want to see it erased. I find it highly suspect that I’m still doing this 7 years later. I have never been able to get a clear response from anyone as to why the mainstream media totally ignored Fred Karger.
In any event, at least they are recognizing Pete Buttigieg. At least we’ve moved forward to that extent. I’m just as excited to see what Buttigieg does in the future, and I’ll be linking to everything I do see about Buttigieg.
Brian Singer’s 10 Million Dollar Directing Gig
It’s interesting to read that in spite of recent allegations of sex abuse, Hollywood just rewarded Brian Singer with a 10 Million Dollar directing gig.
The producer of Singer’s next film, Avi Lerner, said this…
“I continue to be in development for Red Sonja and Bryan Singer continues to be attached,” Lerner tells the Hollywood Reporter. “The over $800 million Bohemian Rhapsody has grossed, making it the highest grossing drama in film history, is testament to his remarkable vision and acumen.”
Here’s the link. If you do a simple search you can find out a good deal more about Singer. It’s all very transparent.
Rami Malek On Brian Singer
I don’t know much about Rami Malek and I don’t plan to see Bohemian Rhapsody. I only know that Malek is a straight man playing gay in Bohemian Rhapsody, and I started to watch a TV show on Amazon Malek starred in that had something to do with a robot and it was so boring I could barely get through 2 episodes.
In any event, Malek is now speaking up about Brian Singer. Here’s part of what he had to say…
“I didn’t know much about Bryan. I think that the allegations and things were, believe it or not, honestly something I was not aware of, and that is what it is.”
You can check this one out, here. There are plenty of comments at the end, too.
