Tom Haynes Wants the Word "Faggot" Banned From a Song; Facebook Bans Common Gay Jargon; Bisexual People Are Most Likely To Be Liberal

Tom Haynes Wants the Word “Faggot” Banned From a Song

One of the most interesting things about this story for me was when I saw straight people all over social media telling gay people how they shouldn’t be offended by the word “faggot.”

A young editor, Tom Haynes, wrote a piece about a popular song that contains the word “faggot.” He believes it’s homophobic and compares it to the N word. Of course I agree with him. However, you should see the straight people defending it. You’d think someone wanted to ban oxygen from the atmosphere. Now they’re calling Haynes another typical pejorative…a ‘snowflake.’

Mr Haynes wrote: ‘The “faggot” line is predictably censored on radio, but that won’t stop straight people singing it at the top of their lungs when it comes on in the pub.

I think Haynes is a hero for speaking up about it. And once again it restores my faith in younger people.

Facebook Bans Common Gay Jargon

Here’s a good example of the way the world…not just Facebook…sets the terms down for gay people. And it happens daily. I see a good deal of it on Twitter. In fact, I find Twitter users to be more homophobic than Facebook.

The new content policy makes things like saying you’re a ‘top’ or a ‘bottom’ off-limits, in a move the social media behemoth says will combat content that “facilitates, encourages or coordinates sexual encounters between adults” and bars “sexually explicit language that may lead to solicitation.”

Here’s the rest. You can read the full statement from Facebook. Many are saying this is Facebook’s way of banning users from stating their sexuality.

Bisexual People Are Most Likely To Be Liberal

I never trust these things 100%. They could be correct, but the problem is that if there are any bisexual people, or LGBTQ people, who are conservative would they actually admit that aloud? I don’t think most of them would admit it. I think conservative LGBTQ people are too terrified of the consequences if they did admit it.

But I could be wrong about that. There’s really no way of knowing for certain, so all we have are these studies to go by.

A new study found bisexual people – especially women – are the most likely to be politically liberal.
University of Oklahoma sociologist Meredith Worthen published her findings in the Sexuality Research and Social Policy journal today (6 December).
