Decriminalization of Gay Sex In India

I’ve been following this all weekend. India has a long way to go.

Gay sex is considered taboo by many in socially conservative India, and while it no longer carries the previous punishment of up to 10 years in prison, other rights like gay marriage are likely to prove elusive.

Here’s the rest. Let’s face it. If the far right conservatives had their way here in the US, we’d be facing the same situations.

How the Media Botched Rapper Young Buck and Alleged Trans Lover

This is a good example of how the media works these days.

Hip hop artist Young Buck found himself at the center of some unwanted attention this week after a trans woman alleged she had engaged in a sexual relationship with the rapper. But it was the media’s response that was most upsetting.

Check it out, here.

Pennsylvania Gubernatorial Candidate’s Transphobic Meme

Here’s more about the guy running for governor in Pennsylvania. I’m a full time New Hope, PA resident and I can promise you I won’t be voting for him.

On Thursday, 6 September, Ray Zaborney, a well-known political consultant with the GOP-leaning firm retained to handle Wagner’s social media accounts, texted a meme of Caitlyn Jenner.
The meme mocks Jenner’s transition as well as Nike’s Just Do It campaign featuring black athletes like Colin Kaepernick.

Don’t Send Russell Tovey Unsolicited D#ck Pics; Grindr Wants To Go Public; Internet Remembers Burt Reynolds

Don’t Send Russell Tovey Unsolicited D#ick Pics

It sounds as though Tovey is ready to settle down.

“I want someone to call me Daddy,” the 36-year-old actor tells Gay Times in a new interview. “I remember being at school, junior school, and already wanting to be a dad.”

Here’s more. But he’s not interested in seeing pics of your penis. Although I’ve never had the urge to deal with children, I do totally agree with him about the penis photos. There are far better ways to get to know someone. I also like the fact that he’s so determined to be a parent, and that he sounds so grounded. It’s nice to see that in gay news for a change.

 Grindr Wants To Go Public

There’s a good chance you might be able to buy Grindr stock in the near future.

Now, according to the Financial Times, the board of Kunlun have unaminously agreed an initial public offering (IPO).
According to a filing with the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, Grindr accounted for 4% of Kunlun’s overall profits last year, and the app has been ‘continuously profitable’ for three years.
Internet Remembers Burt Reynolds
Ever since news of his death broke, people have been remembering Burt Reynolds in a variety of ways…all good. I’m not familiar with his 70s movies, but I can’t stop thinking about the last movie I saw where he played the lead. “The Last Movie Star” is very recent, and it’s one of the best films I’ve seen all year.
Known for his signature moustache and suave demeanor, Reynolds was Hollywood’s #1 top-grossing star for five years in a row, from 1978 through 1982, the longest streak since the days of Bing Crosby in the 1940s. In 1978, he had four different movies screening in theaters at the same time.

Transgender Woman Shantee Killed In Philadelphia; Rapper Milan Christopher: "I Wish I Wasn’t Gay"; Colin Kaepernick and The Attack On Nike;

Transgender Woman Shantee Killed In Philadelphia

This is another distressing story about more murder in the city of Philadelphia. This time a trans woman was the victim.

Authorities in Philadelphia found Shantee Tucker, a black transgender woman, on a highway Wednesday (5 September) morning. They found her shot in the back and subsequently took her to Temple University Hospital, where she died.

You can read more here. They get into how violence against the LGBT community is on the rise everywhere, which I’m sure is true, but they fail to mention there are also many brutal senseless murders in Philadelphia all the time that don’t involve LGBT people.

Rapper Milan Christopher: “I Wish I Wasn’t Gay”

I don’t think there’s a gay person alive who hasn’t thought this at one point or another. Especially when it comes to work and career.

Last week, the 34-year-old actor/hip hop artist wrote a cryptic tweet confessing that sometimes he wishes he wasn’t gay, saying: “I wish I could just be what society think is normal. Sh*t would be so much easier. Like is there a f*cking pill I can take or surgery I can undergo.”

Here’s the rest. He also talks about the hypocrisy of the music industry. For those of you who think being gay is all Will and his Grace, or Modern Family, take the time to read this.

I’m working on a short story right now that someone requested for an anthology, and I decided to turns things around. It’s a sci-fi story, which gave me license to do this. I wanted to know what it would be like of straight people were the minority and gay people were the privileged mainstream. I’ll post more about that in the future.

Colin Kaepernick and the Attack On Nike

This article I’m linking to right now is a bit exaggerated, but the comments at the end are worth reading because I think they show how truly frustrated people are these days.

This week, Nike announced Colin Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback who became political lightning rod when he began kneeling during the National Anthem to protest against police brutality, is one of the faces for its new “Just Do It” campaign.

Here’s more. There are memes from Twitter.

Pretty Man by Ryan Field

Romance Article by Ryan Field In Romance Daily

I was recently asked to write an article for an online publication called Romance Daily News. I jumped at the chance to talk about what it was like to write gay romance back in the 1990s as compared to now. A lot of things have changed since the 90s…including me.

This is the information and the link I Tweeted earlier today.

A recent article I wrote for Romance Daily News on writing gay romance for over 20 years. How it’s evolved and how it’s gone through so many stages since the 90s.

Here’s another link in case the one above doesn’t work. And here’s an excerpt.

They were storylines that had been done in the past many times with straight characters in books, plays, and in films. But no one had ever reworked them with gay male characters. No one had ever given readers gay male characters who found their happy endings, too. I knew the only way I could pull something like that off was to think of them as parodies, and I did that mostly by adding a good deal of erotica. I also had to change the dynamics a little. What works for straight characters doesn’t always work for gay characters. Though it’s not always the case, the gender politics is a little different sometimes. However, as a gay man I know how that works and reworking the storylines proved to be more of a minor challenge than impossibility. Besides, I was writing exactly what I’d always craved as a reader. That was all the motivation I needed.

Lucas Hedges Comes Out As Something

The most interesting thing about this article is that I’m seeing this kind of thing all the time lately. Instead of taking pride in being gay, or bi, or any part of LGBTQ+, I’m seeing these people come out with these ambiguous statements that basically say nothing and mean nothing.

In a new interview with Vulture, the Lady Bird actor opens up about his sexuality, saying: “I recognize myself as existing on that spectrum. Not totally straight, but also not gay, and not necessarily bisexual.”
He continues, “In the early stages of my life, some of the people I was most infatuated with were my closest male friends. That was the case through high school, and I think I was always aware that while for the most part I was attracted to women.”
I’m really not sure how to comment on this kind of thing. I always knew I was gay, and I embrace that label. Here’s the link.  There are over 30 interesting comments with this one.

Airline Separates Gay Parent Family; Cher Was Never A Big Abba Fan; Hikers Campaigning for Trans Rights

Airline Separates Gay Parent Family

I’m sure a lot of people like me didn’t know this kind of thing was happening.

While waiting for his flight from San Francisco to Taipei, Taiwan, representatives for EVA airlines told Cobb and his husband that only one of them could pre-board with their 19-month-old son. His husband, gate attendants told Cobb, would need to wait in line for general boarding.

But they allowed straight couples board with no problem at all.

You can read it all, here.

Cher Was Never A Big Abba Fan

Here’s something with a twist. Even though she’s been promoting all things Abba all summer, Cher wasn’t an Abba fan.

In an interview with the New York Times, she revealed her feelings towards them — and tied it back to her own time with Sonny.
‘Benny [Andersson] took the girls and used them like instruments,’ she said honestly. ‘Sonny used to do that to me.’
Here’s more. What’s really interesting to me, though, is how Cher’s talking about this now after all these years.
Hikers Campaigning for Trans Rights
A group of hikers campaigned across Massachusetts in protest of a referendum that’s harmful to trans rights.
Speaking to PinkNews, Dunn explained: “We embarked to have conversations with community members, hikers, and locals across Western Massachusetts about who we, as trans people, are.”
You can read more, here. They get into a lot more detail about the vote. It’s an interesting read.

Gay Drama Teacher and Homophobic Mom; Student Wins 10 Grand After Escaping Gay Concentration Camp In Africa; The Alex Jones Trans Porn Saga

Gay Drama Teacher and Homophobic Mom

Here’s something that may not break any stereotypes, but I think it enforces the fact that some stereotypes aren’t always that bad. A homophobic Christian mom found out her kid’s drama teacher was gay and she pulled her kid from the class. She wrote a snarky note, too. Here’s how the teacher replied.

“I would be lying if I said I was disappointed to hear this. I pride my students on the respect and love they have for others and their passion for equality. You would only be infringing on our family.
“As far as I’m aware, my sexuality doesn’t affect my ability to teach, just like it wouldn’t affect a doctor’s ability to treat one of your children should they become unwell.”
Student Wins 10 Grand After Escaping Gay Concentration Camp In Africa
Even though we don’t hear about these things in the mainstream media, they’re still happening. And that’s why I link to them…to help spread the news I see from smaller publications.
A student attending Ithaca College in New York has been awarded the Youth Courage Award from the Colin Higgins Foundation, following his brave escape from a gay conversion camp in Africa.
The award also includes a $10,000 grant, which he plans to use for both his education and activism.
The Alex Jones Trans Porn Saga
I honestly don’t find this one shocking in the least. I’ve come to expect this kind of hypocrisy. In short, Alex Jones got caught with trans porn on his phone and he’s making every excuse there is to prove that he’s not into trans porn. But not everyone believes that.
Aaron Fors, a US actor with a background in science and technology, who graduated high school six years early, dismantled Jones’ denial piece by piece.
Fors wrote that the porn video was “contained in its own tab,” adding that it was “a rare find indeed to find pop-ups on an iPhone that will either open up a new tab on your iPhone, or redirect you to a porn website.

Guys Who Identify As Straight Having Same Gender Sex; Bob Mizer Homoerotic Images; Pushing Russia To Act On Chechnya’s Gay Purge

Guys Who Identify As Straight Having Same Gender Sex

This is interesting. Apparently, desire and identity are the alleged reasons why guys who identify as straight enjoy having sex with gay guys. I’m treading with care here not to call it “gay sex.”

“A person can identify as straight but still desire or engage in sexual contact with persons of the same gender,” he writes.
He points to a recent study by Arielle Kuperberg of the University of North Carolina and Alicia Walker of Missouri State University, which looked at the sexual encounters of college students.
Here’s more. The people who commented had a great deal to say about this one. Frankly, I thought this was called being bisexual. But the most interesting thing about all this is that I don’t know one single gay person (including me) who can enjoy “engaging in sexual contact” with women.
Bob Mizer Homoerotic Images
I’m a huge fan of erotic art of any kind. These are excellent.
The Bob Mizer Foundation, named for noted photog Bob Mizer, is now publishing print editions of Physique Pictorial, the long-running magazine devoted to Mizer’s historic images of men wearing very little and in homoerotic poses.
Pushing Russia To Act On Chechnya’s Gay Purge
Here’s a follow up on what’s been happening to gays in Chechnya. Now other countries are stepping in.
Sixteen countries have banded together to question Russia on what it’s doing to stop extreme persecution of gay men in Chechnya. Russia has 10 days to respond.
Chechnya’s gay purge began at the end of 2016. News broke that the Russian territory was kidnapping, torturing and executing men based on a belief they were gay.

Here’s the rest of it. What I’d like to know is why the mainstream media hasn’t been reporting this. I’m guessing no one at the networks needs a good opportunity to exploit gay people at the present time.
