More Men Having Unwanted Sex With Women
According to a recent study, more men are now having unwanted sex with women to prove they aren’t gay.
Jesse Ford is a PhD student in sociology at New York University. She recently conducted a study where she interviewed men who say they’ve had unwanted, nonconsensual sex with women.
“The goal was to dig deeper into the experiences of these men: how the sex unfolded, why they didn’t want it in the first place and why they didn’t just say, ‘No.’” Ford explains.
Here’s more. It’s an interesting piece that gets into the difference between unwanted sex and assault, and how men will have sex with women just to prove they aren’t “unmanly.” In other words, the stereotype that all men want nothing but sex that’s been promoted forever, is what motivates these men to have unwanted sex. I find that fascinating…this myth that all men want nothing but sex might not be all that true after all.
Tweets About Scarlett Johansson Stepping Down From Rub and Tug
In spite of the fact that some people simply will never understand why Scarlett Johansson brilliantly and eloquently backed out of playing a trans character, there have been plenty of Tweets in response.
After the news of Johansson bowing out of the role, the LGBTI community on Twitter not only rejoiced, but threw some shade as well. Here are the best tweets about ScarJo’s departure from Rub & Tug.
You can read them, here. I’ve already seen this discussion come up in other areas since Johansson decided to step down from the part. Even from gay men. And I think this discussion is going to continue until everyone “gets” it.
Outlawing the Gay Panic Defense
I’m hoping they outlaw this completely. It’s a ridiculous law.
The defence – which allows criminals to get more lenient sentences after violent attacks – is based around the suggestion that a perpetrator was “panicked” into committing a violent crime due to an unwanted advance from a gay person.
