This is good to see, especially today, which is World AIDS Day. It’s been almost 30 years since December 1 was designated World AIDS Day, and for so many it’s been a long hard battle. For many the battle continues, but some things have changed.

Portland Gay Bar The Embers Shutters For Good
Here’s another gay bar that was once a huge gathering place, shutting down for good.
You can check that out here. There was a huge gathering and a lot of people showed up to pay tribute to Embers. A lot of gay people felt protected in places like this, and I understand that completely. I remember the first time I went into a gay bar and I realized I really was safe there. I remember it well. It’s an interesting feeling when you grow up not feeling safe anywhere.
