Marriage Wins In Postal Survey In Australia

This was nice to see trending on twitter tonight.

The results of the Australian survey for marriage equality have been tallied, with respondents voting overwhelmingly in support of same-sex marriage.

This still doesn’t mean same sex marriage is legal in Australia. The result of this survey means Parliament has to step in next. But it sounds as though it’s going to be pushed through before the end of the year. I’m going to post more about that tomorrow.

You can check this out here.

The First Gay Kiss In Star Trek History

Well, it’s the first gay kiss at least on camera anyway. Back when Star Trek first aired, thanks to Lucille Ball at Desilu who believed in Star Trekno one dared to even think about a man kissing a man, or a woman kissing a woman. It simply wasn’t done anywhere, at any time. And that’s continued all the way up until now…

The latest incarnation of the Star Trek franchise features the first two canonical gay characters in Trek history (about damn time too!), Paul and Hugh, played by Anthony Rapp and Wilson Cruz. Rapp may get a bit more screen time as the ship’s engineer. But Cruz, as the ship’s doctor, gives the series an extra dose of sincerity.

There’s more here. Tony’s always been a huge Star Trek fan. I’m sure he’ll be thrilled.

The Cute Guy With Huge Popeye Muscles

I have been watching this sort of thing happen for most of my adult life. And I’m kind of a work out fanatic. I run, walk, or hike daily. I work out with weights a few times week. But I don’t inject anything into my body, or take anything to enhance a work out. I have a nephew who is a Chiropractor and he’s got one of those CrossFit franchise-like things, and I like the theory behind what they do.

I think the huge muscle trend started in the early 90s with gay circuit boys. Nice looking guys with nice bodies all of a sudden turned into these ripped, exaggerated muscle models. It’s become a sub-culture (and a cliche) in many ways. The idea seems to be that just having a lean, muscular body the normal way isn’t good enough. You have to do steroids and inject things to take it another step. Unfortunately, many of them wind up looking odd, not to mention the fact that it consumes their lives.

And it’s not like we don’t know what they’re doing. I think everyone can spot a guy at the gym…or in online selfies…who’s doing steroids or something unnatural. So they’re aren’t fooling anyone. And let me tell you, a lot of those guys I saw doing this in the 90s haven’t aged well. In some cases, it’s downright painful to see them now. It’s very hard to describe. Even their faces change shape. Their heads somtimes get boxy looking.

In any event, I don’t want to digress. This guy is really taking things to the extreme.

We all have our things. This Russian ex-soldier likes to inject oil into his arms to make his biceps swell like cartoon sailor Popeye.
The now Internet-famous Kirill Tereschin has raised eyebrows since sharing footage featuring him shadowboxing with massive 24″ biceps.

Here’s more. It’s a shame, too, because he’s really a nice looking guy. There’s a photo.
