Steve Grand’s Groundbreaking Music Video; German Celebrity Big Brother Male Nudity?; Hot Benham Brothers and Chocolate Chips; "Throbbing" In Erotic Romance

Steve Grand’s Groundbreaking Music Video

This is actually an article celebrating 12 groundbreaking music videos by gay artists, but I like Steve Grand the most because he resonates with so many gay men, and he did it all on his own, on the Internet. I also like all the rest.

I agree with this, too:

It’s a tradition that continues today, and while we’re thankful to have an army of allies who have used their art to stand with us in solidarity over the years, there is no substitute for the feeling that comes from seeing our stories told by members of our own community.

You can check them all out here.

German Celebrity Big Brother Male Nudity?

I have to admit that this year I haven’t watched one episode of Big Brother in the US…for the first time in the last 15 years. I’ve seen them all, except for this year. I just can’t get into it anymore. Maybe that’s because things haven’t evolved in the US like they have on German Celebrity Big Brother

By our estimate, German Celebrity Big Brother is good for one thing so far: giving us a full-court view of Austrian former pro tennis player Daniel Köllerer.

You can read this one here.  I’m assuming this tennis player is in the nude on German Celebrity BB, but whoever wrote the article never heard of the journalism 101 basics of who, what, when, where, and why.

Hot Benham Brothers and Chocolate Chips

Here’s more about the hot, but homophobic, good Christian Benham brothers.

Fresh off the heels of their post-Orlando “We love the gays!” vomit-inducing vlog, the antigay Benham Brothers are back. This time, they’re plugging their crappy new book about the how Christians can survive in a “cookie dough of culture” that has been poisoned by liberals, Pagans, atheists and–you guessed it!–gay people.

The article goes on to talk about the negative history of these two brothers with gays, and then how they compare Christians to Chocolate chips. The problem with articles like this is that they never take into consideration there are gay conservatives who are Christians. And that’s a huge issue within the gay community. While there’s nothing wrong with being that colorful gay guy who wears pink sparkle shirts and has beads hanging in his bedroom window, there are just as many other conservative gay guys who wear plain white polo shirts and pay extra to have tasteful blinds installed in their bedroom windows.

You can read the rest here. There’s a photo of the Benham brothers…and they are hot.

“Throbbing” In Erotic Romance

Just don’t do it, ever.

Don’t use the word “throbbing” in erotic romance, unless your character hit his thumb with a hammer, or you’re going for a chuckle on purpose.

Just trust me on this.

Gay YouTube Star Crying Wolf In WeHo; Alexander Skarsgard Says Gay Sex Is Incredible; #HeterosexualPrideDay

Gay YouTube Star Crying Wolf In WeHo

This week we read the sad tale of an innocent young gay male…who is also a YouTube star…who was allegedly beaten in WeHo. At the time, it was an alleged hate crime. There was one gruesome photo of this guy’s bruised, battered face.

Then, it was reported that the information might not have been correct. They were investigating to see what the real story was.

And now, according to this article, the claims were a hoax. Allegedly, the YouTube star, Calum McSwiggan, wasn’t beaten and it wasn’t a hate crime. His injuries were self-inflicted. His friend even claims McSwiggan was crying wolf.

Not surprisingly, McSwiggan has taken to Facebook to write his own interminable take on the situation, in which he says he was “high from having an amazing time at VidCon” before things took a dark turn.

You can read his whole statement here at this link. It’s very long.

Alexander Skarsgard Says Gay Sex Is Incredible

Of course Skarsgard is promoting a new movie. In doing so, he claims that he’s kind of/sort of had incredible gay sex. On TV, that is.

If you’re a gay man, like me, it’s kind of hard to describe. There’s one quote where Skarsgard talks about his gay sex scenes in True Blood, and how he had to deal with another straight male actor who was doing the scene with him…who was nervous because he’d never kissed a guy before. Interesting, because I wouldn’t feel that way if I were going to kiss a woman in a sex scene.

This is what transpired…verbatim, according to Skarsgard.

I just said, ‘Look at the scene. It’s this nemesis and he comes in and then it gets seductive and you think they’re gonna make love and it gets into that and then suddenly my character stabs him in the back and he explodes. In two minutes, look at this emotional rollercoaster we’re taking the audience on. If we commit to this, it’s going to be an amazing scene and we’re going to be very happy with it forever. If we hold back, that’s when it gets awkward.’

Then, in this article, Skarsgard tells other straight male actors who are playing gay to “just dive in.”

At least he didn’t say, “hold your nose.”

I know you all loved True Blood. I loved it, too. I never missed an episode. But just imagine how it would sound if Skarsgard had made these comments about having a sex scene with someone from any other minority. And this happens time and again, whenever a straight male actor plays gay and there’s a kiss or even a hint of sex involved.

You can read more of this here.

#HeterosexualPrideDay on Twitter

When I saw this #HeterosexualPrideDay thing trending on Twitter yesterday morning I went right over to see what it was all about.

It all began when someone decided to mock Gay Pride by creating the hashtag #HeterosexualPrideDay. Pretty soon, straight men (and a few straight women) joined the chorus by tweeting about just how secure they are in their heterosexuality.

The sarcastic Tweets continued all day, and I tweeted several of my own. Here’s one:

10h10 hours ago

Friends of mine were together for fifty-six years, but were never able to legally marry. They died that way.

You can read more about this here.

Was Gay YouTube Star Beaten In WeHo; Man Scans Penis In Checkout; Penis Tattoos

Was Gay YouTube Star Beaten In WeHo?

This one is really odd, and I’m not going to speculate. Not at this point.

Earlier today, we reported the alleged hate crime assault on Calum McSwiggan, the gay YouTube star.

However, sources at West Hollywood’s Sheriff’s Station are strongly suggesting McSwiggan’s claims are not at all true.

WehoVille reports that Captain Holly Perez of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station said McSwiggan was examined in the parking lot of Pavilions grocery store on Santa Monica Boulevard, and saw absolutely no signs of injury at all.

And there’s more here

I’m sure we’ll here more.

Man Scans Penis In Checkout

There’s not much in penis news, however, some guy in Seattle allegedly tried to scan his penis in a check out line at the grocery store and he was accused of indecent exposure.

Christian Fisher strolled into a Quality Food Center on Wednesday evening and ended up at the self check-out, according to the The Smoking Gun.

You can read more about this one, here

Penis Tattoos

I think a lot more people get these than we know about…or are willing to admit. I owned an art gallery once in New Hope not far from a tattoo studio, and I remember guys getting their penises tattooed there.

About 15 years ago LiGee decided his dick would look better with a cobra on it. “If I could suffer through a tattoo on my dick and anyone sees it,” he told me over the phone while driving to his home in New Jersey, “they will know that I had the stomach to do it. And that I have the balls to do it. Other people might want to do it, but they can’t take that pain.”

You can check that out at this web site. It’s actually a fairly in-depth article that talks about why people would want to get a penis tattoo.

Gay Erotic Art: Artsy’s Tom of Finland Page; Twitter and Pork Faggots; Protocol After Hooking Up With a Straight Guy

Gay Erotic Art: Artsy’s Tom of Finland Page

I almost missed this in my e-mails for whatever reason. I’m not sure, but I think it might have gone to spam. I’m glad they got back to me to double check. I love this stuff.

There’s a new web page that’s devoted to Tom of Finland, whom I’ve posted about several times here on the blog. Here’s that link.

From my inbox:

We strive to make all of the world’s art accessible to anyone online. Our Tom of Finland page, for example, provides visitors with Tom’s bio, over 15 of his works, exclusive articles, and up-to-date Tom exhibition listings. The page even includes related artist & category tags, plus suggested contemporary artists, allowing viewers to continue exploring art beyond our Tom page.

I’ve checked out the link and it’s very good. This is hug part of gay culture and pop culture. I hope you check it out, too.

“My whole life long I have done nothing but interpret my dreams of ultimate masculinity, and draw them.”
-Tom of Finland

I wish I could share an image but I don’t have permission.

Twitter and Pork Faggots

I received quite a few DMs on Twitter yesterday from gay men in the US who were offended at a few tweets that were circulating that had to do with “pork faggots,” and a specific food product that’s sold in the UK. Of course there’s nothing wrong with “pork faggots” because that’s cultural to people in the UK. I think this was one of those Twitter things that just took off for like an hour or so.

But it bothered a lot of people…not all were gay men…who were too afraid to mention it aloud. As I said, it was done in a passive aggressive way and the people doing it played it very safely.

First, pork faggots really are a food product in the UK, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. This is all about context. This is from wiki…

Faggots are a traditional dish in the UK,[1][2] especially South and Mid Wales and the Midlands of England.[3][4][5] It is made from meat off-cuts and offal, especially pork.[3] A faggot is traditionally made from pig’s heart, liver and fatty belly meat or bacon minced together, with herbs added for flavouring and sometimes bread crumbs.

So when you see someone in the US coming from a place of privilege making jokes about pork faggots, and referring to gay men in derogatory ways, just ignore them. In this case, it’s not worth the effort. They are only goading you to get a reaction.

But more important, in some cases it might just be totally innocent. You can’t jump to conclusions. Or, the person really might be joking and they just aren’t very good at it. Not everyone can be clever and we can’t jump to conclusions every time.

Protocol After Hooking Up With A Straight Guy

This is interesting. It happens to a lot of gay men, and it can be very awkward.

A gay man who claims to have hooked up with a straight guy on his birthday wonders what he should do now that the candles have been blown out and the cake has been eaten. So, naturally, he’s turning to the Reddit community for guidance.

“I went out with some friends to a straight dive bar,” the birthday boy explains. “This guy approached me to wish me a happy birthday … and I decided to be flirty even though I was out of my element.”

You can read the whole thing here. It’s hard to comment because I think every circumstance is different. And it does happen. The odds are you’ll know when it happens and you’re not going to be emotionally devastated after sex, when the straight guy pats you on the ass, says thanks for that, and then leaves. Just move on.

10 Romantic Gay Wedding Proposals; Greg Louganis Goes Fully Nude; Who Is Kim Davis One Year Later

10 Romantic Gay Wedding Proposals

I’ve heard there are some gay men who don’t like these wedding proposals, and I’m not exactly sure why. Granted, I would personally tend to be more private. But that’s just me. And I find these public proposals other people are doing inspiring and uplifting for many reasons. One reason in particular is that we can now see gay men and women proposing to each other…and it’s real. It’s not just a metaphor. That’s huge. I think most people feel inspired by these things. And if someone doesn’t like that, they don’t have to read what I post. Plain and simple.

In any event, here’s one unusual proposal…

Well, here’s one we’ve never seen before. In Connecticut, Joyride Cycle instructor Adam Keller made sure his spin instructor boyfriend Jared Marinelli would never forget this particular class, setting up a joy-filled wedding proposal guaranteed to melt even the most hardened of gay hearts.

You can check the rest out here, with videos. I think they’re adorable.

Greg Louganis Goes Fully Nude

Speaking of inspiring, this is amazing because Greg Louganis is 56 years old. And he recently posed fully nude.

The Olympic diving dynamo just doffed his speedo for ESPN‘s annual “Body” issue, and we’re way down.

“When I look around at my contemporaries,” he says, “I’d say I’m probably in better shape than most of them. It’s all about making healthy choices.”

This is why I don’t eat carbs and I run daily. It is really is a matter of choices, not excuses.

You can check this out here.

Who Is Kim Davis One Year Later?

I think this is interesting. It’s a look back at that shouty anti-gay marriage lady, Kim Davis, one year later.

The 50-year-old, thrice-divorced Rowan County clerk has fallen into obscurity after she she made a national spectacle of illegally refused marriage licenses to same-sex couples on religious grounds even after the Supreme Court ruled to make marriage equality the law of the land last June.

So far legalized same sex marriage hasn’t changed all the much for the straight people in this country. It’s been a huge change for gay people, though, and I wonder if people like Kim Davis have evolved even slightly. Somehow, I’d doubt it.

Obama: Stonewall A Landmark; Sean Hayes On When He Came Out; Cher Flip Flops On Brexit Vote

Obama: Stonewall A Landmark

I would be highly remiss if I didn’t post about this on the blog. This is huge for gay culture and gay history.

President Barack Obama announced today that the Stonewall Inn – the birthplace of the modern LGBTI rights movement – has been declared a national monument.
The announcement comes just days before the first anniversary of the US Supreme Court ruling that made same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states.

You can read more about it here.

This is, indeed, history being made. And I have a feeling that when President Obama leaves office, he’ll be remembered for being on the right side of history in many respects.

Sean Hayes On When He Came Out

Back when the TV sitcom, Will & Grace, aired we knew nothing about Sean Hayes’ sexuality. Of course we knew, however, Hayes never spoke about being gay openly in RL. And now he’s saying this…

It’s something the now completely out and proud actor wishes he had handled differently.
‘I had personal issues inside of myself that I regret,’ the 45-year-old admits to Playbill.
‘I regret not coming out sooner and helping more people, and I regret not coming out during the show.’

There’s more here. Times were very different back then. I wasn’t as openly gay as I am now. I think we all feel that way at one point or another…that we could have done more.

And then there are those in Hollywood still to this day who flatly refuse to come out at all. They live a lie; they claim they don’t like “labels.”

Cher Flip Flops On Brexit Vote

This is an example of why I think celebrities should stay away from things like this. I have seen so many idiotic, insulting tweets about the Brexit vote by US celebrities who don’t know what they’re talking about I’m embarrassed for all of us here in the US. One in particular didn’t even realize how dumb he looked on Twitter…and he probably still doesn’t. (I just keep duct tape on my mouth at all times these days.)

I also think that if you’re going to tweet about something as important and complicated as the Brexit vote you should damn well know what the hell you’re talking about. And you shouldn’t joke about it unless you’re very, VERY clever.

In any event, Cher wasn’t joking, but she first tweeted support for the Brexit vote, and it was bad. When other people replied to her tweets, and she saw the negative responses, she flip flopped. She even started praying for everyone with those pithy little hand praying emoji. It’s a mess.

I’m not quoting here because the tweets are all screen shots. You can check them out here.

I like Cher. I don’t think she meant any harm, and she did try to make it right. She gets a big pass for that, at least I think she should. There are celebrities out there who would have taken the first tweet down and just ignored it. Cher didn’t run away. She owned it. But I also think celebrities should think twice before they tweet about issues that are this important and that will affect so many people.

Orlando Shooter and Alleged Gay Lover; How To Be A Good Gay Top; The Happy Gay Bottom

Orlando Shooter and Alleged Gay Lover

They’re calling this a “twist” in the case of the Orlando shooter, Omar Mateen.

The FBI has found no evidence that the gunman who left 49 people dead in an Orlando nightclub had gay lovers or used gay dating apps, according to the Los Angeles Times.

You can read the rest here

The men who have made claims they were lovers of Omar Mateen are still being investigated, however, none have been credible…so far.

How To Be A Good Gay Top

Here’s one of those articles about relationships from gaylife that tend to be mostly accurate…at least from what I’ve seen.

Topping takes strategy, a way to execute that plan, and a lot of patience. The strategy I’m referring to is the bottom’s pleasure. A good top knows that focusing on their partner’s desires can reap pleasurable rewards for both people.

Pay attention to this, and please read the rest of the suggestions if you are a top man. These things do make a difference.

You can read the rest here.  And, there’s a lot of other valuable info within this article.

The Happy Gay Bottom

I post these things every once in a while because I get e-mails from younger gay men who are inexperienced and curious about anal sex. I think this kind of information makes it easier for them to understand the basics.

You should never feel pressured into having anal sex if it is something you’re not comfortable with.

But, by knowing more about anal sex you can avoid making your choice about it on the basis of fearing the unknown. Many men who overcome this fear discover that anal sex becomes an important and enjoyable part of their sex lives. If you’re one of those guys, or want to be one of those guys, here are some helpful tips and advice that may help you have a vastly better anal sexual experience.
Whether you’re a top or a bottom, you should read this. It will make a difference. When I was just starting out you couldn’t even pay to get information like this. You learned everything the hard way…usually biting a pillow. Now you have it for free.
